Expected standards of behaviour at Riverside FC

Introduction

Riverside FC is committed to maintaining the highest standards of behaviour both on and off the pitch. This Code of Conduct applies to all players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators.

Players' Code of Conduct

As a player, I will:

  • Play by the rules and respect officials' decisions
  • Never argue with referees or officials
  • Respect opponents, teammates, coaches, and spectators
  • Be on time for training and matches
  • Communicate with my coach if I cannot attend
  • Wear appropriate kit and equipment
  • Never use foul or abusive language
  • Accept victory and defeat gracefully
  • Never bully, intimidate, or discriminate against others

Parents' & Spectators' Code of Conduct

As a parent or spectator, I will:

  • Encourage and support all players, not just my child
  • Respect referees and accept their decisions
  • Never shout instructions that conflict with the coach
  • Stay behind touchline barriers
  • Never use foul or abusive language
  • Remember that children play for fun
  • Acknowledge good play by both teams
  • Never criticise players for making mistakes
  • Set a positive example for children to follow

Spectators who breach this code may be asked to leave and banned from future matches.

Coaches' Code of Conduct

As a coach, I will:

  • Place the welfare of players above all else
  • Ensure activities are appropriate for age and ability
  • Build positive relationships based on trust
  • Never use inappropriate language or behaviour
  • Respect players, officials, and opponents
  • Ensure equal playing time at youth level
  • Create a safe and enjoyable environment
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries at all times
  • Continue my professional development

Consequences of Breaching the Code

Breaches will be dealt with according to severity:

Reporting Breaches

To report a breach of this Code of Conduct:

  1. Speak to the relevant Team Manager
  2. Contact the Club Secretary if unresolved
  3. Submit a formal complaint in writing if necessary
